Richard Ayoade hosted the 2020 BAFTA Television Awards from BBC TV Centre tonight, honouring the best of British and international talent on both sides of the camera. Nominees included Mo Gilligan, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Guz Khan, Jodie Comer, Stephen Graham, Suranne Jones, Ncuti Gatwa and Lee Mack. Awards were presented to winners via live feeds and with pre-recorded messages.

ITV have released a series of new photos from David Tennant’s new drama Des as part of its roll out of the autumn schedule.






Tipped to be airing in September, Des sees David Tennant plays one of the UK's most notorious serial killers, Dennis Nilsen. The new thee part drama is based on Killing For Company, the biography of Nilsen written by Brian Masters which includes conversations with the killer who would go by the name of 'Des'. David also acts as an executive producer on the series. 


Told through the prism of three men – Dennis Nilsen, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Jay played by Daniel Mays (Line of Duty, Temple) and biographer Brian Masters played by Jason Watkins (The Crown, The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies) – the series will explore the personal and professional consequences of coming into contact with a man like Nilsen. UK: Watch David Tennant On Tonight’s BAFTA Television Awards

David Tennant will be a guest presenter for the BAFTA television awards tonight on BBC One from 7pm. David will be amongst a collection of stars, also including Michael Sheen, who will join host Richard Ayoade via video link.  The awards are being broadcast from behind closed doors and nominees will accept their awards virtually.
Actors Daisy Edgar-Jones, Paul Mescal, Adrian Lester, Himesh Patel and Joe Cole, presenter Stacey Dooley and comedian Greg Davies will be joining Richard in the studio.

He will also be joined virtually by Billy Porter, Chris O’Dowd, Jeff Goldblum, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Ruth Madeley, all presenting via video-link.

The show will also feature two performances from Australian comedian and musician Tim Minchin, including an original song composed for the event.

The Bafta TV awards were due to take place on May 17, while the craft awards, which celebrate technical achievements, were to be held on April 26, but were postponed because of the coronavirus crisis.

The second series of There She Goes, the heartwarming comedy drama about a family with a learning disabled daughter, continues in the UK tonight on BBC Two at 9.30pm.

Starring David Tennant and Jessica Hynes the series is based on the real life experiences of writer Shaun Pye, whose daughter was born with an extremely rare and, to date, undiagnosed chromosomal disorder. There She Goes follows the day to day life of a severely learning disabled girl Rosie (Miley Locke), her dad Simon (David Tennant), mum Emily (Jessica Hynes) and brother Ben (Edan Hayhurst). Jessica Hynes recently won a Bafta for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for her role in the show.Series one, which debuted in 2018, chronicled the dual timeline of Rosie as a newborn and age nine. The new series is set around 18 months on and focuses on Rosie at the ages of three and 11.

To mark 154 years since the author’s birth, publisher Penguin Random House has announced an audio edition of Beatrix Potter: The Complete Tales.

Tickets For David Tennant's RSC Talking Shakespeare Event Available From Today

As previously announced, David Tennant is to take part in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s new Talking Shakespeare event and will be in conversation with Artistic Director Gregory Doran on Monday 17th August. 
Tickets for David’s event will be available to book online from today for Patrons and Tuesday 28 July for Members and Subscribers. Booking will close at 12pm on 17th August.

The event will take place on the online platform Zoom and details of how to watch will be sent by email prior to the start time.

David Tennant To Present Award In Friday's BAFTA Television Awards Ceremony

David Tennant has been announced as a guest presenter for the BAFTA television awards on Friday. David will be amongst a collection of stars, also including Michael Sheen, who will join host Richard Ayoade via video link.

David Tennant To Take Part In AMA On Reddit Next Month

David Tennant will be joining the Reddit community on Tuesday 11th August as he takes part in an Ask Me Anything on the /r/IAmA subreddit. The Q&A begins at 12pm ET/5pm BST, with David answering questions from registered members of the Reddit community.

The I Am A community is "where the mundane becomes fascinating and the outrageous suddenly seems normal". The subreddit has over 20 million members and is the go-to place on Reddit for AMAs.

For those unfamiliar with Reddit, to join David’s AMA you will need to create a free account which you can do by visiting reddit.com and clicking Sign Up on the top right of the screen.  Once the the AMA session is live, users can submit their own questions to David or upvote questions posted by others. David will be replying to a selection of questions live.

Good news for fans who are enjoying the latest series of There She Goes on Thursdays, BBC Four are to repeat the first series over the course of two nights next week. 
The series will then be available to watch as a box set alongside the current series on BBC iPlayer.

UK: Drama Channel Continues Repeat Run Of David Tennant’s Doctor Who Era Today

Drama Channel in the UK continues airing David Tennant era Doctor Who episodes this afternoon. The re-runs begin from 1.00pm with three episodes airing each week.


David joined the show in 2005 as the Tenth incarnation of the Time Lord and went on to achieve global success with the part. Over 4 years and 47 episodes David won critical acclaim, walking away from the show in January 2010 with an armfull of accolades including National Television Awards and a BAFTA Cymru. Fans too were won and his Doctor was voted the best ever by reader's of Doctor Who Magazine. In November 2009 the episode The Waters Of Mars gave BBC America their biggest ever ratings. David Tennant’s West End Run Of “Good” Is Postponed Until Spring 2021

David Tennant’s latest West End play, Good, has been postponed until Spring 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. 
If you already have tickets you don’t need to do anything as you will be contacted and given priority to reschedule your theatre trip. 

The run was due to begin on 6th October 2020 at London’s Playhouse Theatre, but due to the pandemic and social distancing restrictions the dates have had to be changed. No official start date has been revealed.

Signed ‘Staged’ Script Up For Auction To Raise Funds For The Theatres Trust

A signed script from David Tennant’s lockdown comedy series Staged is currently up for auction to raise money for the Theatres Trust.
The pilot script has been signed by David Tennant, Michael Sheen and the show’s creator Simon Evans. 

Bidding currently stands at £600 and you can place your bids online here
Other lots in the auction include a clapperboard from the final series of Broadchurch signed by director Andrew Williams, afternoon tea for two with Jo Brand and drinks with Lucy Prebble. 

The Theatres Trust believe that current and future generations should have access to good quality theatres where they can be inspired by, and enjoy, live performance.
