The highly anticipated TV series Around The World In 80 Days will make its world premiere this October at the fourth edition of Canneseries in Cannes. It returned as a series in its own right in 2013, but has still retained its focus on celebrating difference and disability humour - Hills and Brooker regularly poke fun at their own disabilities. It now has a reputation for fearlessly promoting social justice and aiming to deflate the egos of the rich and powerful. Filming Has Begun On David Tennant’s Latest Project ‘Inside Man’

Filming has begun on David Tennant’s latest drama, Inside Man.   David is among the stellar cast who will  appear in Steven Moffat's upcoming limited series. The four-part drama will also star Stanley Tucci (Supernova, Fortitude) in the titular role, with Dolly Wells (Dracula, Blunt Talk) and Lydia West (It's A Sin, Years And Years). Netflix have come on board the project to stream the series internationally outside the UK and Ireland.  Produced by Hartswood films, the drama's plot is still very much under wraps, but what is teased so far is that it focuses on a prisoner on death row in the USA, a vicar in a quiet English town, and a maths teacher trapped in a cellar, who cross paths in the most unexpected way. Steven Moffat and his wife Sue Vertue, executive producer for Hartswood Films, say: “We’re a bit stunned, and very excited, at the acting talent we’re managing to assemble for this show. Staged Wins At The Rockie Awards

David Tennant’s lockdown comedy Staged has won the award for  Scripted: Short Fiction Program in the Rockie Awards. The 42nd Rockie Awards are the awards of the prestigious Banff World Media Festival competition which recognizes excellence in global television and digital content. Entries from more than 40 countries compete, and winners are selected by an international industry jury of 150+ senior entertainment and media professionals. The BBC's hit series Staged stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen as exaggerated versions of themselves, two frustrated actors attempting to rehearse a play over Zoom while the country is in lockdown. Co-starring their real-life partners Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg, Staged was written and directed by Simon Evans, who also joins the cast with Lucy Eaton, Nina Sosanya and some amazing guest stars.  Find out more about the awards and watch the ceremony here. 

NEW ZEALAND: Staged Premieres On UK TV Tonight

BBC One's award-winning comedy show Staged premieres in New Zealand tonight on UKTV. The series, written and directed by Simon Evans, stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen as exaggerated versions of themselves, a pair of furloughed actors attempting to negotiate the UK's COVID-19 lockdown. Filmed using video-conferencing technologies, Staged sees David and Michael as the stars of a play that has now been shelved by the pandemic. Their director, Simon, hits upon the idea of continuing rehearsals over Zoom, but can the play survive its stars' bickering, paranoia and ego clashes? Staged also stars Georgia Tennant, Anna Lundberg, Lucy Eaton and Nina Sosanya, with some surprise guest stars.  The show premiered in June 2020 in the UK and was renewed for a second season which aired in January this year. David Tennant is interviewed in The Times today as part of their BAFTA feature. In it he talks about working on Staged during the first lockdown, “ I know, Zoom is a very strange acting environment, at its worst it feels like you’re trying to act through an open letterbox. But supported by some great writing, I think we hopefully  did something new with it.” “I hope I’m not as pathetic as in  Staged ,” he says. “I’m in trouble if I am. But that was the trick for me: find a few insecurities and then grotesquely magnify them.
