UK: Staged ‘Up To No Good’ Repeated On BBC One Tonight

David Tennant's recent comedy series Staged continues a repeat run on BBC One on tonight at 9.45pm, directly after the BBC's new six-part drama series The Secrets She Keeps. Episodes will air on Monday and Tuesday nights over three weeks in July.

Based on an original idea by Simon Evans and Phin Glynn - Staged is written and directed by Evans and is an Infinity Hill/GCB Films production for BBC One. The series stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen, playing fictional versions themselves, with the premise that the pair were due to star in a production of Six Characters in Search of an Author in the West End. The pandemic has put paid to that, but their director (Simon Evans - also playing himself) is determined not to let the opportunity pass him by. He knows how big a chance this is for him and turns his attention to cajoling his stars into rehearsing over the internet. All they need to do is read the first scene, but throughout the series they come up against a multitude of oppositional forces: distraction, boredom, home-schooling and their own egos.

The series takes on the challenges of creating a drama in lockdown, on stage and off, with a line-up including Georgia Tennant, Lucy Eaton and Anna Lundberg. The show also has a selection of guest stars including Nina Sosanya.

Episode 2 Up to No Good
With rehearsals due to begin, Simon goes missing. Michael and David embrace the opportunity to skive off. Georgia is due to deliver her novel to her agent and asks David to stand in and help with the kids. Michael is caught breaking the law.
Inspired by Georgia’s writing, David is tempted to start a new endeavour.

The full series of Staged is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
