PHOTOS: BBC Studios Release New Behind The Scenes Look At Good Omens To Mark One Year Since The Series Premiered

BBC Studios have released a collection of behind the scenes photos from Good Omens to mark the one year anniversary since its premiere.

David Tennant stars as fast-living demon Crowley opposite Michael Sheen as fussy angel Aziraphale in the six-part series which was adapted from the beloved book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It was produced by Neil Gaiman and directed by Douglas Mackinnon. Set in 'a nostalgic present' Good Omens sees the Earth hurtling towards the Apocalypse, with the forces of Heaven and Hell massing for the final battle. However, an angel and a demon who have dwelt among humanity since The Beginning are determined that they won't give up their comfortable existance and form an alliance to stop the world ending. Their plan is to destroy the Antichrist...if only they han't mislaid him. The series also stars Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Jack Whitehall, Nina Sonanya, Michael McKean and Josie Lawrence.

Good Omens "Hard Times" Wins Nebula Dramatic Presentation Award

The Good Omens episode "Hard Times" picked up the Ray Bradbury Nebula Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation in an online ceremony last night for the 55th Annual Nebula Awards. The third episode of the greatly acclaimed adaptation of the cult novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett features a pre-credits opening sequence of almost half and hour following the developing relationship of protagonists Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale (Michael Sheen). The series premiered a year ago today, making the Award a welcome first birthday present!

VIDEO: David Tennant and Anna Hope Star in Gridlock Sequel For Doctor Who Lockdown

David Tennant reprises his role as the Tenth Doctor as he makes a surprise guest appearance in a specially written sequel for the third series episode Gridlock.

The 11-minute short was written by Russell T. Davies, who joined the live tweet tonight of the two New New York episodes New Earth and Gridlock. The short stars Anna Hope as Novice Hame who, on the last day of her life, is visited by a familiar figure from her past.


The video was produced by Emily Cook of Doctor Who Magazine and was recorded remotely under COVID-19 restrictions. Emily has been behind the Doctor Who: LOCKDOWN tweetalongs which are in aid of The Film and TV Charity's COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, supporting the creative community which has been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

David Tennant Tops Poll Of Greatest Scottish Actors

A Scottish poll to identify the country's greatest cultural icons has placed David Tennant at the top of the Greatest Ever Actor category. The Scottish Times and Sunday Times launched the survey and asked their readers' panel to cast their vote across seven different categories highlighting the best of the country's cultural heritage. The results are now in and the greatest Scottish cultural Top 10s have been revealed.

David tops his category head of fellow Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi, Trainspotting actors Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle and James Bond himself Sean Connery.

Doctor Who Lockdown: Live Tweetalong For New Earth And Gridlock Tonight

The next live Doctor Who Lockdown tweetalong is this evening with an international rewatch of the Season 2 episode New Earth and the Season 3 episode Gridlock.

USA: Doctor Who Finds A New Home As New HBO On-Demand Service Launches

Good news for Doctor Who fans in the USA: all eleven seasons of the revived series are now available to  stream on HBO Max. WarnerMedia launched their new SVOD platform on Wednesday 27th May to include titles from the HBO and Warner Bros. TV and movie catalogue, new and original films and series and non-HBO titles.

As well as including every episode starring Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker, HBO Max will also be the streaming home for the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood, starring John Barrowman. Also, the next three seasons of Doctor Who will be exclusively available to stream on HBO Max after their premiere on BBC America.

Other titles available include animated series gen:Lock and the Harry Potter movies.

The service does not include classic episodes of Doctor Who; these are available via Britbox.

NEW INTERVIEW: David Tennant Talks Teaming Up With Tom Baker For A New Doctor Who Adventure

David Tennant speaks to the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine about his forthcoming audio adventure with Tom Baker.

Due for release from Big Finish in August 2020, the first volume of Doctor Who: Out of Time sees the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) team up to outwit the Daleks (Nicholas Briggs).  

Speaking about recording the new series, which has been recorded completely during lockdown, David tells DWM:

“Why do we love multi-Doctor stories? I suppose it's the band all coming together, isn't it? I remember as a kid I'd read about things like The Three Doctors and could only imagine how exciting that must have been. And then The Five Doctors happened and, well, five Doctors didn't really get together in the end, but three Doctors and a man in a wig and some clips of Tom Baker all got together, and that was exciting enough. Just the idea that Doctors should come together, it's exciting!"

Staged With David Tennant And Michael Sheen To Premiere On 10 June

David’s Tennant’s new lockdown comedy series, Staged, will premiere on Wednesday 10th June at 10.45pm on BBC One with the second episode in the series following on directly at 11.00pm. 


David Tennant and Michael Sheen (playing themselves) were due to star in a production of Six Characters In Search Of An Author in the West End.  The pandemic has put paid to that, but their director (Simon Evans - also playing himself) is determined not to let the opportunity pass him by. He knows how big a chance this is for him and turns his attention to cajoling his stars into rehearsing over the internet. All they need to do is read the first scene, but throughout the series they come up against a multitude of oppositional forces: distraction, boredom, home-schooling and their own egos.

Chance To Revisit Broadchurch As ITV Repeat First Series From June

Broadchurch is set for a prime time repeat run in the UK as ITV begin airing the first series from Monday 8th June at 9pm.
The eight part series first aired back in 2013 and went on to become multi award winning after earning praise from critics and TV audiences alike.  Broadchurch explores what happens to a small community in Dorset when it suddenly becomes the focus of a police investigation, following the tragic and mysterious death of an eleven year old boy under the glare of the media spotlight. Bloodied and dirty, Danny Latimer has been found dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face from where he may have fallen. While his death remains unresolved, the picturesque seaside town of Broadchurch is at the heart of a major police investigation and a national media frenzy. David Tennant and Olivia Colman star as detective duo Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller. The series will also be available on ITV Hub.

David Tennant, Good Omens, Criminal And Deadwater Fell Nominated In First Round Of TV Choice Awards - Vote Now!

The voting is now open for the first stage of the 24th annual TV Choice awards, due to be presented in Autumn. The TV Choice Awards are the only major TV awards entirely decided by audience votes, with more than 2 million readers deciding which programmes and stars will be honoured as the best of the year. 

This year David Tennant’s recent Channel 4 thriller Deadwater Fell, The Netflix crime drama Criminal and his Amazon Prime series Good Omens are all nominated in the Best New Drama category.
David has also been nominated as Best Actor for his role in Deadwater Fell. 

Voting on the longlist will remain open until midnight BST on Friday 12th June.

UK: Watch David Tennant Thriller Bad Samaritan On Horror Channel Tonight

David Tennant's 2018 psychological thriller Bad Samaritan has its free-to-air TV premiere in the UK tonight when it debuts on Horror Channel from 9pm BST.

Bad Samaritan is a terrifying cautionary tale of two thieves uncovering more than what they bargained for when breaking into a house they thought would be an easy score. After making the shocking discovery of a woman held prisoner in the home, they must choose to run and hide, or face the kidnapper whose chilling secrets they have exposed. David Tennant stars as the psychotic Cale Erendreich, with Robert Sheehan and Carlito Olivero as Sean and Derek, two parking valets with a little sideline in burglary and Kerry Condon as Katie. Dean Devlin has produced and directed the movie which was written by Brandon Boyce.

David Tennant Contributes To New Charity Book Thanking The NHS

David Tennant is one of a host of well known faces who have contributed to a new book to thank the NHS for their work.
Dear NHS: 100 Stories To Say Thank You which is edited and compiled by Adam Kay, sees celebrities telling their personal stories of the care that they or their loved ones have received from the health service.

David Tennant and Michael Sheen set to lead cast in Staged, a new comedy series for BBC One

The BBC today announced a brand new lockdown comedy, Staged, from Infinity Hill and GCB Films for BBC One. Starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen, Staged (6x15) features the cast of a play - the cream of the crop of British acting talent - who are furloughed when their upcoming West End production is suddenly brought to a halt. The series follows the cast as they try their best to keep the rehearsals on track in lockdown. Absurd and humorous in equal measure, Staged takes on the challenges of creating a drama in lockdown, on stage and off, with a line-up including Georgia Tennant, Lucy Eaton and Anna Lundberg. The show will also have a selection of guest stars including Nina Sosanya, with more to be confirmed in due course.
