David Tennant is among the latest batch of names announced for the film adaptation of Richard Osman's hugely successful novel The Thursday Murder Club. As the Netflix production readies itself for filming later this month, the previously announced leads Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie will now be joined by Jonathan Pryce, Danny Mays, Naomi Ackie and Henry Lloyd Hughes as well as David.
Author Richard Osman revealed the news via his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, saying, "There's some great names, and some more names coming as well." He has revealed that he is "very, very excited" about David joining the cast in as as-yet unnamed role.
The Thursday Murder Club follows four friends in a retirement home, who like to discuss and solve murders for fun, but suddenly find themselves embroiled in a a real case right on their doorstep. Filming on the production will continue until September, with a release date on Netflix expected some time next year. The director is Chis Columbus, who helmed Home Alone and two films in the Harry Potter series.
