David Tennant wins at the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards

David Tennant has picked up the prize for Best Shakespearean Performance at this year's Critic Circle Theatre Awards for his performance in Macbeth at the Donmar Warehouse. The awards, which were presented today, celebrate the best theatre performances on 2023, as voted for by journalists from the Drama Section of the Critics' Circle.

Other winners today include Andrew Scott, who was named Best Actor for Vanya and Sophie Okonedo, awarded Best Actress for Medea. Best director went to Rupert Goold for Dear England.

Macbeth ran at the Donmar Warehouse between December 2023 and February 2024, but is due to transfer to a larger venue in London's West End later this year.
