The Amazing Maurice To Screen At Manchester Animation Festival

Manchester Animation Festival returns in November 2022, and will include the upcoming feature film The Amazing Maurice as part of its Family Day on Sunday 13th November. David Tennant is among the cast of the animated movie based on the Carnegie medal-winning novel The Amazing Maurice And His Educated Rodents by the late Sir Terry Pratchett, originally published in 2001. The film is due to be released on Sky Cinema in December 2022.

The Amazing Maurice will screen at Home 2 in Tony Wilson Place, Manchester, UK at 1.15pm on 13th November with the film's producer Andrew Baker in attendance. There will be a repeat screening on 17th November at 4pm. Tickets are available now from this link

Based on the wildly popular Discworld ® novels, The Amazing Maurice stars Hugh Laurie (Avenue 5) as Maurice, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Malicia, David Thewlis (Wonder Woman) as Boss Man, Himesh Patel (Yesterday) as Keith, Gemma Arterton (The King’s Man) as Peaches, Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) as The Mayor, Ariyon Bakare (His Dark Materials) as Darktan, Rob Brydon (Roald & Beatrix: The Tale of the Curious Mouse) as The Pied Piper, Julie Atherton (Avenue Q) as Nourishing and YouTuber Joe Sugg as Sardines. David Tennant (Doctor Who) plays Dangerous Beans, a role he previously voiced in a 2003 audio adaptation of the novel for BBC Radio.

Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking rats. When Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, they meet a bookworm called Malicia and their little con soon goes down the drain. The Sky Original is a lively and entertaining adventure inspired by the German fairy tale about the Pied Piper of Hamelin and a parody of the folk tale genre.

The film is co-produced by Sky, Ulysses Filmproduktion and Cantilever Media in partnership with Global Screen, with animation studios Studio Rakete (Hamburg) and Red Star Animation (Sheffield). The film has the full support of the Terry Pratchett estate and is produced in association with Narrativia. Producers are Julia Stuart (Sky), Emely Christians (Ulysses), Andrew Baker and Robert Chandler (Cantilever Media) and Rob Wilkins (Narrativia). The Film is directed by Toby Genkel, co-director is Florian Westermann, from a screenplay by Terry Rossio.

The Amazing Maurice is currently scheduled to release in the USA, Australia and New Zealand in January 2023.
