David Tennant is set to be a host on this year’s Comic Relief Show as part of the 2022 Red Nose Day celebrations. He will be joining Lenny Henry, Zoe Ball, Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuinness at the BBC Studios in Salford to present the show live on Friday 18th March from 7pm on BBC One.
What does Comic Relief mean to you?
It’s one of those things that makes you proud to be British. The mix of being daft and being big hearted seems to be something we do well. It’s always an honour and a joy to be involved.
What are you most looking forward to on the night of TV?
I love it. If I wasn’t going to be there I’d be tuning in from start to finish. I never miss Comic Relief night.
What’s your favourite memory of Comic Relief from over the years?
I have very vivid memories of visiting some CR projects over the years. Memories that are both desperately upsetting and also gloriously hopeful.
And then there was a moment during a CR edition of Top of the Pops where I got to (very briefly) play guitar with Franz Ferdinand. A fleeting moment of wish fulfilment.
What can audiences expect this year?
I have no idea. I can’t wait to find out.
