David Tennant talks about filming the spectacular new TV series Around The World In 80 Days in a new interview for France Télévisions. The eight-part drama is based on the classic novel by Jules Vernes and stars David as intrepid traveller Phileas Fogg with Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch as his travelling companions Passepartout and Abigail ‘Fix’ Fortescue.
In the video clip, which is in English with French subtitles, David talks about his prior knowledge of the story and introduces the key characters.
Around The World In 80 Days is adapted by writers including
Ashley Pharoah and Caleb Ranson and is a Slim Film + Television and Federation
co-production with additional co-production partners, Palladium Pictures in
South Africa, and Daro Film, associate producer. Other cast members
include Ty Tennant, Jason Watkins, Peter Sullivan, Lindsay Duncan, Dolly Wells,
Richard Wilson, Faical Elkihel, Anthony Flanagan, Gary Beadle and Giovanni
Scifoni.
Globally the series will air in the UK on Sunday 26th December 2021 (episodes are available on BBC iPlayer from this date) and in the USA on Masterpiece on PBS on Sunday 2nd January 2022. It will also air on La Une in Belgium this coming Sunday. It will be available to stream in full on Germany's ZDFmediathek from 11th December 2021. Air dates are yet to be confirmed for France Télévisions, Italy’s RAI and Seven West Media in Australia.
