David Tennant has been nominated as Best TV Actor in the Edinburgh TV Awards 2021 for his performance in the acclaimed ITV series Des. David played real-life serial killer Dennis Nilsen in the three-part drama, who murdered around a dozen young men and boys in his London homes between 1978 and 1983. The series itself is also nominated as Best Drama.
The Edinburgh TV Awards, now in their 20th year, are the highlight of the annual Edinburgh TV Festival and celebrate outstanding talent and the breadth of creativity that the TV industry has to offer, both in the UK and abroad.
In the TV Actor category,which is new for 2021, David finds himself up against his Des co-star, Jason Watkins as well as his former Doctor Who colleague Billie Piper, who is shortlisted for her performance in I Hate Suzie. Des will have competition from the BBC's I Will Destroy You and Channel 4's It's A Sin.
