VIDEO: Staged Wins Best New TV Sitcom In British Comedy Guide Awards - Watch David Tennant And Michael Sheen's Acceptance Video

Staged has won the award for Best New TV Sitcom in the British Comedy Guide Awards.

The series saw Michael Sheen and David Tennant (playing themselves) about to star in a production of Six Characters In Search Of An Author in the West End. The pandemic has put paid to that, but their director (Simon Evans - also playing himself) is determined not to let the opportunity pass him by. He knows how big a chance this is for him and turns his attention to cajoling his stars into rehearsing over the internet.

The recent second series saw the pair attempt to navigate their ‘new normal’ at home with their increasingly exasperated families whilst simultaneously trying to tackle the world of ‘virtual Hollywood’ and their ever more fragile egos.

Staged co-starred David and Michael's real life partners Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg and featured cameos from the likes of Dame Judi Dench, Samuel L Jackson, Cate Blanchett and Simon Pegg.

David and Michael have filmed a video to accept their award, in which they said: "Thank you so much for this beautiful Comedy Guide award. It's wonderful that this award is voted on by the regular folks. Thank you so much."
