David Tennant - A Look At What's Ahead For 2021

2021 looks set to be another exciting year for fans of David Tennant with several new projects in the works. This month alone will see the launch of the second series of Staged. Also coming up is the epic Around The World In 80 Days and a return to the theatre is scheduled for Spring when David is set to star in Good at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Check out more details on his biggest projects for the year ahead below:

The new series follows David Tennant and Michael Sheen as they attempt to navigate their ‘new normal’ at home with their increasingly exasperated families whilst simultaneously trying to tackle the world of ‘virtual Hollywood’ and their ever more fragile egos.
Also returning for the new series are Georgia Tennant, Anna Lundberg and Lucy Eaton alongside Nina Sosanya and Simon Evans with new addition to the regular cast Primetime Emmy-winner Ben Schwartz, playing the assistant to Michael and David’s American agent.
The first episode, Saddle Up Sheen, premieres on Monday 4th January at 9.45pm on BBC One and sees Michael and David pained to discover that someone they respect is not a fan of their work. David’s plans to go to work and Michael’s plans to visit a friend abroad are both scuppered by last-minute travel rule changes, and some news regarding a work opportunity for the pair turns sour.

With theatres currently still closed in London due to the ongoing pandemic, it's anyone's guess whether Good will go ahead as scheduled, but if all goes to plan it is booked in for a 12 week season from 21 April to 17 July 2021 at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
The play was first seen at the Donmar Warehouse in 1981. Set in 1930s Germany, it follows a professor who attempts to rationalise the actions and anti-semitism of the Nazi party.

The creative team includes designer Vicki Mortimer, lighting designer Paule Constable, sound designer Paul Arditti and musical director Nigel Lilley. The show was originally meant to begin previews at the Playhouse Theatre on 6 October 2020 and run for ten weeks, but has been forced to move dates given the ongoing pandemic.
