The results of the I Talk Telly 2020 Awards are in with big wins for David Tennant, his crime drama Des and lockdown comedy series Staged. Over half a million votes were cast during voting which took place over a fortnight in November.
Staged picked up the award for Best New Comedy. Created by Simon Evans and produced by Phin Glynn, Staged was filmed using remote technology and saw David Tennant and Michael Sheen playing exaggerated versions of themselves, attempting to rehearse for a play over Zoom. Staged also starred Georgia Tennant, Anna Lundberg, Nina Sosanya and Lucy Eaton with Evans himself as the increasingly frustrated director.
David and Michael were also awarded the title of Best Comedy Partnership.
See below for thank you messages from Georgia Tennant (and some helpers) and from Michael and his comedy sidekick.

David also picked up Best Dramatic Performance for his performance as Dennis Nilsen in the ITV docudrama Des. Des, which co-starred Daniel Mays and Jason Watkins, was a winner in its own right as Best New Drama. The three-part series was written by Luke Neal, based on the book Killing For Company by Brian Masters, and directed by Lewis Arnold, and followed the arrest and trial of Nilsen, one of the UK's most prolific serial killers.
Other winners in the Awards, organised by I Talk Telly founder Elliot Gonzalez, include Ant and Dec, The Umbrella Academy, Mo Gilligan and Coronation Street.
