David Tennant was a guest star on a celebration of the career of the country’s most famous grumpy pensioner, Richard Wilson on BBC Scotland yesterday evening.

Better known as playing Victor Meldrew in One Foot in the Grave, Richard Wilson’s rise to becoming one of our most-loved comedy performers nearly didn’t happen. He talks about his humble beginnings as a lab technician from Greenock to becoming one of the most recognisable faces in Britain, and how he nearly turned down the role of a lifetime. Richard is also one of theatre’s most respected directors and a relentless supporter of new writing talent.
