UK: Episodes 5 & 6 Of Staged Premiere On BBC One Tonight

The final two episodes of David Tennant’s new comedy series, Staged, premiere on BBC One in the UK tonight from 12.05am.

Staged sees David Tennant and Michael Sheen playing fictional versions themselves. In Staged the pair were due to star in a production of Six Characters in Search of an Author in the West End. The pandemic has put paid to that, but their director (Simon Evans - also playing himself) is determined not to let the opportunity pass him by. He knows how big a chance this is for him and turns his attention to cajoling his stars into rehearsing over the internet.
All they need to do is read the first scene, but throughout the series they come up against a multitude of oppositional forces: distraction, boredom, home-schooling and their own egos..
The series takes on the challenges of creating a drama in lockdown, on stage and off, with a line-up including Georgia Tennant, Lucy Eaton and Anna Lundberg.

The Staged production team followed the latest government guidelines on Covid-19 to ensure that the series was made safely and responsibly, using a combination of self-shooting and video conferencing technology, all in accordance with the latest protocols.
Based on an original idea by Simon Evans and Phin Glynn - Staged is written and directed by Evans and is an Infinity Hill/GCB Films production for BBC One. It was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Director BBC Content. The producers are Phin Glynn, Victor Glynn and Georgia Tennant. David Tennant and Michael Sheen are also executive producers of the series. Executive Producers for Infinity Hill are Axel Kuschevatzky and Cindy Teperman and for GCB, Geoff Iles.

Episode 5 Received Pronunciation
Simon brings in an old friend to try and convince David and Michael to put their faith in him. David has managed to stay afloat in Georgia’s absence. Not only
has he kept the house in order and the home-schooling ticking over, but he’s finished a draft of his screenplay. Michael spies an ambulance next door and worries about his neighbour.

Episode 6 The Cookie Jar

Jo drafts in the voice of experience to get Michael and David in line. Georgia has shared David's work without him knowing. Michael seeks resolution on what has happened to his neighbour. David is pleasantly surprised by the enthusiastic
response his work receives.
