UK: David Tennant & Dame Judi Dench Discuss Theatre's Future On BBC News Tonight

David Tennant and Dame Judi Dench will be appearing on The Coronavirus Newscast on the BBC News channel tonight from 9.25pm BST. The actors will be discussing the crisis facing the UK's theatres in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown.

Yesterday Dame Judi shared her fears that the Government's lack of support for the arts could spell an uncertain future for theatres, saying, “It’s a desperate feeling, and when will they ever open again? I don’t know, certainly, I’m sure not in my lifetime.”

David, who was due to open in a production of CP Taylor's Good at the Playhouse Theatre, has also said that he feels theatres are teetering on the brink.“We’ll need government intervention until theatres can safely reopen, and audiences are happy to go back,” he said in a recent interview with Radio Times.

The Coronavirus Newscast, hosted by Adam Fleming, Laura Kuenssberg, Chris Mason and Fergus Walsh, can also be seen on BBC One at 23.35pm.
