UK: Mary Queen Of Scots Premieres On Sky Cinema Today


The acclaimed historical drama Mary Queen Of Scots arrives on television in the UK today as part of Sky Cinema's December line up. The film launches on Sky Cinema Premiere from 11.15am, with a repeat showing at 8.00pm. Mary Queen Of Scots can also be streamed by subscribers via NOW TV or the Sky Cinema app.

Saoirse Ronan stars as the eponymous Mary Stuart in the epic movie directred by Josie Rourke. Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie). Each young Queen beholds her "sister" in fear and fascination and Mary's eventual attempt to overthrow Elizabeth finds her condemned to years of imprisonment. Guy Pearce, Gemma Chan, Jack Lowden and Joe Alwyn also star, with David Tennant as the outspoken Scottish preacher John Knox who publicly voiced his disapproval of a female monarch.
