Playing In The Dark With Neil Gaiman, David Tennant And Amanda Palmer Premieres On BBC Radio 3 Tonight

Playing In The Dark with Neil Gaiman, David Tennant And Amanda Palmer will premiere this evening at 7.30pm on BBC Radio 3 in the Radio 3 In Concert slot.

The hour and half long show was recorded during the best-selling author's literary event at London's Barbican Centre. Neil hosted an evening of words and music with readings from his own books complemented by music performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

David joined the performance to read from Good Omens, the 1990 novel the Neil co-wrote with the late Sir Terry Pratchett. David recently played the demon Crowley in the Amazon Prime adaptation of the novel and revisited the role - also providing a faithful version of Michael Sheen's Aziraphale - during his reading.

Music included pieces by Gershwin, Sibelius, Britten and Wagner, with vocal performances by baritone Simon Butteriss and singer Amanda Palmer, Neil's wife, who performed A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square and also read out some of Neil's writing.

An edited version of the show will also air on BBC Radio 4 in two parts following the Radio 3 broadcast. Part 1 airs on Christmas Day but will not include David’s performance; he will feature in Part 2 on New Year's Day. You can also catch up on BBC iPlayer.
