David Tennant Joins The Cast Of New Channel 4 Drama Deadwater Fell

David Tennant has joined the cast of a new four part Channel 4 Drama, Deadwater Fell, he will also act as an executive producer on the project.
The series, which will film in Scotland, is written by Daisy Coulam, and follows two families in the aftermath of a tragedy that claims the lives of a woman and her three children.

David plays Tom Kendrick, a trusted local doctor. After a house fire, which he survives, his wife, Kate, and their kids are found dead. When it emerges that they were not killed by the fire, the finger of suspicion points first to Tom and then to others. Anna Madely plays Kate.
Cush Jumbo stars as Jess, who was the dead woman’s best friend and confidante. Matthew McNulty will also appear as Jess’ partner, Steve.

The series examines the ripple effect of the crime on each person who knew and loved the family. From the best friends of the victims, to their parents, and the children who have to go to school the next day.
Deadwater Fell is also a dissection of two marriages. Best friends Jess and Kate were closer than sisters, they worked together at the local school and went on holiday together. But when Kate and her three children are found murdered, and her husband Tom is suspected of the crime, Jess’ world is upended in her search for answers. She is desperate to understand what caused this tragedy, and what secrets lie at the root of this horrific act. Meanwhile, her own already-fragile relationship with her husband Steve is driven to the brink of collapse amid the chaos.

Beneath the shadow of this murder, once strong relationships become fractured, respect gives way to recriminations, and friendship is replaced by suspicion. The community is now irrevocably associated with death, while those that are left behind desperately try to make sense of a tragedy that simply makes no sense at all.

“Daisy Coulam has written something very special, chilling and fascinating with these scripts,” says David. “I am honored and delighted to be part of telling this extraordinary story.”

Jumbo added: “I’m so excited to be part of bringing Daisy’s dark and mysterious story and the character of Jess to life.”
“Deadwater Fell” is directed by Lynsey Miller (“The Boy With the Topknot”) and was commissioned by Channel 4’s head of drama, Caroline Hollick. Kudos Endemol Shine is handling distribution.
