A new episode of David Tennant’s podcast series David Tennant Does A Podcast With... is now live. This week David's guest is the multi-award winning actress, comedian, TV host and human rights activist Whoopi Goldberg.
Recognised worldwide for her performances in The Color Purple, Ghost and Sister Act, Whoopi is currently seen by millions across the US as one of the co-hosts of ABC talk show The View. Last year, Whoopi moderated the Good Omens panel at New York Comic Con, which saw David Tennant among the cast and creatives introducing a first look at the upcoming Amazon Prime series.
Yesterday it was announced that she will be host of this year’s Oscar ceremony.
During the chat Whoopi revealed that she would have loved to have been the first woman to play the Doctor in Doctor Who. Incidentally, the actress who did, Jodie Whittaker, is next week’s podcast guest...
“I wanted to be the first female Doctor Who. We don’t have a Doctor Who – we don’t have that character who is travelling through dimension and time, being an observer – sometimes a hindrance, sometimes a help.
“The idea of that just so made me happy. But they were like, ‘Um, no.’ So I was like, ‘OK, I’m cool. I understand.’”
