David Tennant will be joining the LA-based improvisational comedy troupe The Groundlings for one night only this week. David will be appearing as a special guest in the regular Thursday night show Cookin' With Gas, Los Angeles' longest running improv show.
The Groundlings is an improvisation and sketch comedy theatre that was formed over 40 years ago and has launched the careers of some of Hollywood's biggest comedy stars. Past alumni include Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, Phil Hartman, Lisa Kudrow, Paul Reubens and Jon Lovitz. Cookin' With Gas is a weekly short form improv show performed by Groundlings, Groundlings Alumni, Sunday Company members, and a weekly special surprise guest. The show is based entirely on audience suggestions from which the comic daredevils invent custom-made satire and song.
This week's show features Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Sarah Cornell, Andrew Leeds, Lyric Lewis, Lisa Schurga and Mindy Sterling and is directed by Annie Sertich.
Cookin' With Gas takes place on Thursday 30th August at 8pm at The Groundlings Theater in Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles. The bad news is that the show has already sold out, but the theater has a standby line that opens 30 minutes before showtime. If you're one of the lucky ones who snagged tickets, please let us know what you thought!
