Mary Queen Of Scots UK Release Now January 2019

Mary Queen Of Scots, the historical biopic based on John Guy's biography My Heart Is My Own: The Life Of Mary Queen Of Scots, will now be released in the UK on 18th January 2019. The film stars Saoirse Ronan as Mary and Margot Robbie as Elizabeth I, her cousin and rival for the English throne. David Tennant co-stars as the controversial Scottish minister John Knox.

Mary Queen Of Scots is produced by the UK's Working Title and USA company Focus Features, both of which come under the umbrella of Universal NBC. Universal Pictures will handle the international distribution of the movie. The film marks the feature film directorial debut of Josie Rourke, artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse, who was also the director of the 2011 production of Much Ado About Nothing at Wyndhams Theatre starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

Other cast includes Martin Compston as the Earl of Bothwell, Gemma Chan as Bess of Hardwick, Jack Lowden as Lord Darnley and the late Alex Beckett as Walter Mildmay.

Mary Queen Of Scots is tipped as an Academy Awards contender and is being released in the USA on December 7th 2018 to ensure its eligibility for this year's panel.
