David Arnold Set To Score Good Omens For Amazon

The Grammy Award winning composer David Arnold is set to provide the score for Good Omens, the new TV series based on the comic novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Arnold, who is known for his work on Independence Day, Godzilla and the James Bond franchise, also scooped a Daytime Emmy for his dramatic score for Sherlock in 2014.

Good Omens stars David Tennant as the demon Crowley and Michael Sheen as his angelic counterpart Aziraphale in the six-part adaptation of the much loved book. The story is set on the brink of the Apocalypse as the massed forces of Heaven and Hell prepare for the Final Battle. However, the mismatched protagonists, who have been living on Earth among humanity since The Beginning, are not ready to give up their comfortable lifestyles and so come to an agreement to prevent the AntiChrist from coming into his full power. That is, they would, if anyone could remember where he was...

The series was scripted by Neil Gaiman, who also acts as showrunner, and was directed by Douglas Mackinnon. The cast also includes Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, John Hamm, Sir Derek Jacobi, Josie Lawrence, Mireille Enos, Daniel Mays and Nina Sosanya and the series wa shot in locations in London and Oxfordshire and in South Africa. Good Omens will premiere worldwide on Amazon Prime early in 2019 with broadcast on BBC Two later in the year. BBC Worldwide is currently handling distribution to other countries with further details to be announced.

While details for the score are now known, the contents of the show's soundtrack are still unrevealed - we can only hope that someone is currently beavering away to get clearance on those all-important Queen tracks!
