UK: Disney's DuckTales Starring David Tennant Starts In The UK Today

The wait is over for UK fans! Series One of the rebooted animation DuckTales, featuring David Tennant in the role of Scrooge McDuck, will finally launch on Disney XD today from 4.30pm. So far British viewers have only been treated to the one hour special Woo-oo! which aired in November last year.

The news that the classic 1980s cartoon favourite Disney's DuckTales was to be revived for a new generation has excited TV viewers young and old from around the world, and even more so when the calibre of cast members was revealed. David’s co-stars include Danny Pudi (Community) as Huey, Ben Schwartz (Parks & Recreation) as Dewey, Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) as Louie, Kate Micucci (The Big Bang Theory) as Webby, Toks Olagundoye (Castle) as Mrs Beakley and Beck Bennett (Saturday Night Live) as Launchpad, while Disney stalwart Tony Alselmo reprises his role as Donald Duck. Other high profile guest appearances through the series include Catherine Tate, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Kimiko Glenn. The series following the exploits of the adventuring McDuck clan was Disney XD's biggest animated show in over two years when it launched in the USA last autumn. A second series has already gone into production.

David says of his character, "Scrooge McDuck is an enigma. With every adventure that arises in the show, a new corner of Scrooge’s past is unfurled. There are lots of skeletons in his closet, and lots of adventures in his past that keep propelling the story forward."

The first episode on Disney XD UK is Daytrip Of Doom, in which Huey, Dewey and Louie take Webby to Funso's Fun Zone to get her outside of her sheltered life at the mansion and have a dangerous run-in with the Beagle Boys.

Watch on Disney XD today from 4.30pm

The episode repeats on March 2nd at 7.30am and 3.30pm. New episodes will air weekly on Thursdays from 4.30pm.

Meanwhile, viewers in the USA can expect the series back on their screens with new episodes later this spring.
