USA: David Tennant's Mad To Be Normal Available On VOD From Today

David Tennant's award-winning movie Mad To Be Normal, is released digitally in the USA today. David Tennant plays R.D. Laing in the film based on the revolutionary psychiatrist's life and works.

Mad To Be Normal focuses on the community that R.D. Laing set up at Kingsley Hall in London in the late 1960s where people experiencing mental illness and medical practitioners lived together as equals. Laing is now considered one of Scotland’s greatest ever minds, but during the 1960s and 70s, his practices, which included the rejection of prescribed medication and experimenting with LSD, were considered controversial, even dangerous, by his peers and caused outrage in the medical profession. Today Laing is recognised as a key figure in changing attitudes to and perceptions of mental health around the world.
The film was written and directed by Robert Mullan and co-stars Elisabeth Moss, Michael Gambon, Gabriel Byrne and Adam Paul Harvey.
