UK: The Sarah Jane Adventures Now Available On BBC iPlayer

The Doctor Who spin off The Sarah Jane Adventures is now available to watch in its entirety via BBC iPlayer in the UK. Created by the then Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, the series launched in 2007 starring the late Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, former companion to the Doctor. The previous year, Elisabeth had been invited to return to the role of Sarah Jane for a guest appearance in the David Tennant episode School Reunion. The Sarah Jane Adventures subsequently ran for five series, with a total of 53 episodes.

The show also starred Tommy Knight as Sarah Jane's adopted son Luke, Daniel Anthony as Clyde Langer, Yasmin Paige as Maria Jackson and Anjli Mohindra as Rani Chandra, all of whom served as Sarah Jane's young companions as they solved mysteries, battled aliens and saved the Earth many times over. Alexander Armstrong voiced the computer, Mr Smith, while John Leeson returned to his Doctor Who role as the voice of Sarah Jane's loyal robotic dog, K-9. The series ran alongside Doctor Who and its more adult spin off Torchwood, and the three shows shared studios and many writers and production staff as well as references to both current and classic Whovian universes.

The Sarah Jane Adventures also boasted guest appearances from two incarnations of the Doctor. The Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant guested in the 2009 story The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith while Matt Smith appeared as the Eleventh Doctor in Death Of The Doctor in 2010 alongside another Classic Who companion, Jo Grant, played by Katy Manning.
