UK DVD & TV Release Update For Mad To Be Normal Starring David Tennant

Good news for UK-based fans of David Tennant who are waiting for the home entertainment release of his award-winning film Mad To Be Normal - the movie will receive a big terrestrial TV premiere later this spring. The film's Twitter account has also stated that this will be followed by a DVD and VOD release.
Mad To Be Normal was written and directed by Robert Mullan and stars David in the role of maverick Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing, with Elisabeth Moss, Gabriel Byrne and Michael Gambon. It is based on the treatment facility that Laing set up at Kingsley Hall in East London in the late 1960s where patients experiencing mental health difficulties lived as equals alongside medical staff and were encouraged to live through their psychosis to return to health. Laing's methods, which included experimenting with LSD and discouraging the use of medication and electro-convulsive therapy, were considered controversial and dangerous by the medical establishment at the time; however, while his theories and practice had their flaws, his legacy has shaped how mental health issues are treated today.

Mad To Be Normal premiered on February 26th last year at the Glasgow Film Festival and screened in cinemas around the UK during the spring and summer of 2017. It has also received film festival screenings in the USA, Canada, Ireland and Russia.

The film will be released on DVD in the USA tomorrow - Buy your copy here
