There's just over a year to wait before the launch of the BBC and Amazon Video co-production of the beloved Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman novel Good Omens - and if you're anything like us, that can't come fast enough! The six part series is currently in production and stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen in the roles of the demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale who join forces in an attempt to halt the impending Apocalypse. The comic drama is due to premiere worldwide on Amazon Prime in early 2019 and will be shown on BBC Two at a later date.
In the meantime, the BBC is giving impatient fans a chance to revisit their six part 2014 radio adaptation of the novel and get to grips with the characters and storyline. Originally broadcast on BBC Radio 4, the adaptation by Dirk Maggs starred Mark Heap as Aziraphale and Peter Serafinowicz as Crowley, with Colin Morgan as Newton Pulsifer, Clive Russell as Shadwell and Charlotte Richie as Anathema Device. The series also features Josie Lawrence as Agnes Nutter, a role she will reprise in the TV series.
Part one of Good Omens will air on BBC Radio 4 Extra starting from Christmas Day at 6pm with subsequent episodes broadcasting every evening at the same time until 30th December. BBC Radio 4 Extra can be heard worldwide from this link. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer following broadcast.
In addition, Neil Gaiman fans will no doubt be thrilled to hear that his mystical fantasy novel Anansi Boys will also be coming to BBC Radio 4 this Christmas in a new adaptation starring Lenny Henry as the trickster god Anansi and Jacob Anderson as his son Charlie - click here for more details.
