David Tennant Is Celebrity Sitter For Sky Arts Portrait Artist Of The Year

David Tennant has posed for his portrait today as a sitter for one of the London-based heats of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2018. The annual competition offers artists the chance to win a £10,000 commission for a major British institution and £500 of art materials from Cass Art. This year the heats are taking place at the Wallace Collection at its home at Hertford House, Marylebone.

The series sees contestants paint celebrity sitters as they work their way through the rounds to be named the next Portrait Artist of the Year. Previous subjects have included Graham Norton, Nina Sosanya, Richard E Grant and Sir Ian McKellen.

Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner will host the competition, which will be judged by award-winning artist Tai Shan Schierenberg, independent curator Kathleen Soriano, and Art historian Kate Bryan. The series is expected to air on Sky Arts from January 2018.

David has now finished his involvement with the show but further heats of the competition will be held at the same venue until 13th April. The heats are open to the public with access via a free wristband. Please be aware that large numbers are expected at all heats so wristbands are issued on a first come, first served basis.
