VIDEO: David Tennant & Robert Mullan Talk Mad To Be Normal

Ahead of the premiere of Mad To Be Normal this evening, David Tennant and the film's writer and director Robert Mullan have been interviewed by the organisers of the Glasgow Film Festival.

The new movie is a biopic following the controversial psychiatrist R.D. Laing, who became a superstar in the 1960s through offering alternative, medication-free treatments for mental illness and setting up a community in East London where schizophrenics and their doctors lived together as equals.

Robert Mullan speaks of his desire to make a film about the many layered and complex character of Laing who tried to do something that nobody else had ever done. David, meanwhile, speaks of the flawed but brilliant scientist; an extraordinary psychiatrist but an unknowable and complicated man.
"His extremes were quite extreme," he states. " That makes for a compelling character. I find myself hugely fond of him...I don't think he'd thank me for that!"
