NEW INTERVIEW: “Olivia does feel like a sort of sister." David Tennant On Why A Broadchurch Romance Was Never On The Cards

David Tennant and Olivia Colman will soon be seen reprising their award winning roles as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller in the third and final series of Broadchurch and whilst there's no denying the pair have created one of the most memorable on screen partnerships of all time, don't be expecting the detective duo to be seen sailing off in to the sunset with one another as romance is definitely not on their agenda...

Speaking about the idea of a hook up between Hardy and Miller at the press launch for the show David told the audience “Nah… that’s not their bag really.” and chatting to iNews he elaborates:
“I think we would have found it quite silly”, he says. “Olivia does feel like a sort of sister. One of the weird things about acting is that someone you've known for a long time, suddenly you have to pretend you’re shagging… and Olivia and I wouldn’t be able to keep a straight face for long enough. It would be appalling”.

Viewers will get to see more of Hardy’s home life in the new series though, and it will especially focus on his relationship with his teenage daughter, Daisy. “It works on several levels”, says David “It gives him an emotional life next to the main story, but in investigating a serious sexual assault he’s also looking at his own daughter, worrying for her, and it personalises it.”

Broadchurch returns to ITV on Monday 27th February 9pm
