USA: Broadchurch Returns To BBC America In March

The UK crime drama Broadchurch will return to BBC America in March, it has been revealed today. David Tennant and Olivia Colman will return to the roles of Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller for the third and final season of the award-winning series as the detectives reunite to investigate another serious crime.

The announcement was made during the BBC America panel at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour 2017. The event, currently underway in California, allows TV networks and cable stations to present their upcoming programming to an assembly of journalists and columnists from the USA and Canada.

In Broadchurch Season 3, three years have passed since the events of Season 2. While Alec is still worrying about his daughter, Ellie has moved on from husband Joe and faces new difficulties thanks to her elderly dad, played by Roy Hudd.

New faces include Julie Hesmondhalgh who will play Trish Winterman, the victim of a violent sexual assault that Hardy and Miller must investigate. UK comic and author Charlie Higson plays her husband and Sir Lenny Henry joins the cast as Ed Burnett, the owner of the local farm shop where she works. Sarah Parish co-stars as Trish's best friend Cath Atwood, married to fellow newcomer Mark Bazeley as garage owner Jim. Georgina Campbell plays new DC Katie Harford who will team up with Hardy and Miller to work on the case. They will be joined by returning cast members Jodie Whittaker, Arthur Darvill, Andrew Buchan, Carolyn Pickles, Charlotte Beaumont and Adam Wilson.

We'll post the exact start date as soon as we hear it!
