David Tennant To Attend Mad To Be Normal Premiere At The Glasgow Film Festival

David Tennant will be walking the red carpet at this year's Glasgow Film Festival on 26th February as his film Mad To Be Normal makes it's world premiere in the Scottish city.

The film will be screened at Glasgow Film Theatre and stars David as the renowned Scottish psychiatrist Ronnie Laing, the so called acid-Marxist who rejected the accepted medical model of mental illness in order to focus on the personal emotional journeys of each of his patients. In 1965, Laing and a group of colleagues created the Philadelphia Association and started a unique psychiatric community project at Kingsley Hall, where patients and therapists lived together. He was often criticised for his techniques, which included the occasional use of the drug LSD.

Mad To Be Normal, which also stars Michael Gambon and Gabriel Byrne, was filmed at various locations across Yorkshire and London in 2016. The movie is a Gizmo Films production with Bad Penny Productions and GSP Studios.

Festival Co-Director Allison Gardner told The Scottish Sun: “David Tennant gives an absolutely stunning performance as R.D. Laing in Mad To Be Normal and it seems only fitting that Glasgow should have the honour of hosting the premiere of a film about one of the city’s most complex, charismatic figures.”

Tickets for the galas go on sale at 10am on Monday 9th January. Click here for more info.
