Watch David Tennant In Hamlet For Free Tonight From 7pm With Digital Theatre+


The BBC production of Hamlet starring David Tennant and Sir Patrick Stewart will be available in the UK for free for a limited period this evening as part of the Shakespeare400 celebrations.

To mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death, Digital Theatre+ are currently hosting a week of watchalongs in conjunction with BBC Active. Shakespeare fans across the UK are able to participate in watchalongs of six BBC Active productions featuring some world class British talent. Viewers will be given access to each stream at a particular date and time and then will be encouraged to join in the chat on Twitter using the hashtag #DTShx.

Tonight sees David Tennant's Hamlet take centre stage in the watchalong. Watch and join in from 7pm BST.

The 2009 BBC film of Hamlet recreated the 2008-9 Royal Shakespeare Company stage production with the same cast and original director, Gregory Doran. The cast also included Oliver Ford Davies, Penny Downie, Peter de Jersey and Mariah Gale. 

Digital Theatre+ is the educational arm of the theatre streaming service Digital Theatre, providing online access to productions and curriculum-relevant content to over 3 million schoolchildren and higher education students in 66 countries. They have just announced a new content partnership with BBC Active to acquire 70 new titles from the BBC's theatre related archives.
