VIDEO: David Tennant In Duck Patrol - The Spirit Of The Deep

Way before Alec Hardy came to life, David Tennant was known for playing another police officer in another ITV series, Duck Patrol.

Originally airing in the UK in 1998, a comedy drama from the creators of 'Second Thoughts' and 'Faith In The Future', Duck Patrol deals with the activities of the officers of the Ravensbeck River Police Station, whose job it is to maintain law and order along the river's banks.
The  Sarge is supposed to be in charge of the station, but he tends to concentrate on his fishing and leave the day-to-day running of everything to Prof (Richard Wilson "One Foot In The Grave")
Other main characters include Prof's girlfriend, Val (Sue Johnson "The Royle Family"), love struck young copper Darwin, (David Tennant), and the object of his affections, Marilyn (Samantha Beckinsale, "London's Burning").

We've recently raided our film collection and are uploading episodes of the series for you.
Today we publish episode 4.

About The Spirit Of The Deep:
Darwin thinks he has seen a mermaid though it turns out to be an actress called Shemerlda (real name Doris) shooting a television commercial. Prof cautions drunken Cyril not to set out for Dunkirk in his leaky old houseboat 'Spirit of the Deep' full of livestock so when Cyril tries to put out to sea Prof brings Shemerlda on board to seduce him into stopping. And it works - though not quite in the way Prof had envisaged.
