RUMOUR: David Tennant Tipped To Host Special Celebrity Edition Of The Crystal Maze

Update: It's been confirmed that David won't be taking part.

A couple of UK tabloids are reporting that David Tennant is in the frame to host a special one-off revival of the iconic 90's game show, The Crystal Maze. The puzzle-solving team challenge ran from 1990 to 1995 on Channel 4, and was originally hosted by Rocky Horror creator Richard O'Brien, and subsequently by former Tenpole Tudor frontman Ed Tudor-Pole.

Twenty-one years after it last aired, The Crystal Maze is being revived as a big budget celebrity edition in October as part of Channel 4's annual fundraiser Stand Up To Cancer. However, the channel have not ruled out the possibility of the show going to a full series if the special episode is a success.

During the first half of the 1990s The Crystal Maze was one of Channel 4's biggest shows. Earlier this year, an immersive Crystal Maze experience launched in London following a successful crowdfunding appeal.

David Tennant is currently completing filming of the third and final series of the ITV crime drama Broadchurch. Following this he will be working on two movies, the British romantic comedy Fish Without Bicycles and the US thriller Bad Samaritan. He has previously hosted editions of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Have I Got News For You for the BBC and the Channel 4 series Comedy World Cup, which ran for a single series in 2012. As yet his involvement in The Crystal Maze revival is unconfirmed.
