He may have been in Scotland receiving a top honour today, but last week David Tennant was down in West Bay in Dorset where he was snapped on the set of the third series of Broadchurch. David, who is reprising the role of Detective Alec Hardy for the final time, was at work on Thursday filming with the talented rising star Hannah Rae, who plays his daughter Daisy. When we first met DI Hardy back in 2013, his relationship with his daughter was non-existant; in series 2, screened last year, we saw the characters reconcile. The new shots suggest that the father and daughter are still working on rebuilding their family bonds.
The third series of Broadchurch sees Alec Hardy back in partnership with former colleague Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) as the pair investigate a serious sexual assault. Writer Chris Chibnall has been liaising closely with police and other agencies who specialise in sexual offences over the course of a year as he prepared the scripts in order to explore the psychological impact that such crimes have on victims and their families. Arthur Darvill, Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan will also be returning to their roles, and the cast will be joined by Julie Hesmondhalgh, Lenny Henry, Sarah Parish and Roy Hudd, among others.
Broadchurch series 3 is expected to premiere in the UK early in 2017. Hannah Rae will soon be seen opposite Billie Piper in the BBC Films drama City Of Tiny Lights.
