David Tennant and his Broadchurch co stars Olivia Colman and Georgina Campbell have taken time out from filming the third series of the ITV drama to judge a Father's Day competition run by Scottish charity Circle. The charity works at the heart of deprived communities across central Scotland and aims to support the most disadvantaged and difficult-to-engage children and families, to improve their lives, to promote their healthy potential and development and to build their resilience.
The judges had a tough job in choosing between the entries, but in the end 9 year old Shelby Ritchie’s card, which she based on the outline of her hand, was hailed as the winner.
Runners-up were Logan Smith, 12, and Dani Pavlov, 9.
David, who has been a patron of the charity since 2005, said of working with the charity:
"I was blessed with a safe and happy childhood. It is unacceptable to me that any child in Scotland should grow up in poverty or neglect. I am delighted and honoured to be supporting Circle in Scotland as they spread their invaluable work across the country."
The Father’s Day card competition was made up entorely of entries from children Circle helps support and is part of the Scottish Government-backed “Year of the Dad”, a celebration of fathers everywhere organised by Fathers Network Scotland.
