As the year approached its end, much of the month of November was filled with press for Marvel's Jessica Jones, which released on Netflix at the end of the month. David also made a number of TV and radio appearances, including a return to Absolute Radio as a co-host.
TV
All 13 episodes of Marvel’s Jessica Jones starring David as
Kilgrave were released exclusively on Netflix on November 20th.
The cast and creatives attended the gala premiere in New
York on November 17th.
Ahead of the release, Netflix released new promo photos and a new trailer showed more of the Jessica / Kilgrave relationship. Clips of David in action were showcased in a video interview with the Guardian, while in conversation with Digital Spy he revealed that despite being a
lifelong Marvel fan he had never heard of Jessica Jones prior to being offered
the role of Kilgrave.
New preview clips saw Kilgrave invading a family home and using his powers to influence a game of cards.
David had a full schedule of interviews to promote the show:
David was a guest on The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV where he
revealed that there had been a new addition to his family. He also appeared in a pre-recorded interview on Good Morning Britain.
ITV’s countdown show of the The Nation’s Favourite Beatles Number Ones included huge fan David as one of the contributors.
David was the narrator of Dames Of Classic Drama At The BBC,
the second of a two-part exploration of the early days of some of the UKs
biggest acting stars.
David was a guest on the Late Show With Seth Meyers and Popcorn With Peter Travers.
Doctor Who
Fans were given a chance to hear a clip from one of the new
Big Finish Tenth Doctor audio adventures starring David and Catherine Tate.
Radio
David co-hosted the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show on
Absolute Radio. During the show he chatted about Marvel’s Jessica Jones and demonstrated how he could turn his hand to any villainous role.
David appeared on Classic FM to talk about his new series
and to reveal some of his favourite classical music
Film
The expected shoot of Glasgow-based thriller I Feel Fine was
subject to delays – a new start date and
any impact this might have on casting has yet to be announced
Theatre
The new cast for the January performances of Richard II at
the Barbican in London was confirmed.
Charity
David presented a heartbreaking story as his contribution to
this year’s BBC Children In Need appeal.
Personal Appearances
VIP tickets to meet David and Billie Piper at Wizard World
St. Louis and Madison next year went on
sale.
It was confirmed that David and Krysten Ritter would be
attending CCXP in Brazil in December.
David was an attendee at GQ’s Most Stylish party in New
York.
David was one of the celebrity judges of Strictly Charity, a
ballroom dancing event held at The Park Club in West London.
Miscellaneous
David narrated a short animated feature celebrating the
centennial of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.
