Today brings the third part in our review of 2015 as we take a look back at the news highlights from March. This month David headed to New York to start work on Marvel's Jessica Jones and made the first of his Comic Con appearances.
TV
Production began in New York on Marvel’s Jessica Jones and
David was invited to take a tour of Marvel’s headquarters.
The second season of Broadchurch finally premiered in the
USA on BBC America, and
also across Latin America. After a long wait, viewers in Germany were finally
able to watch season 1 on ZDF.
Viewers in the UK learned that they would be able to watch
Gracepoint on ITV Encore from April.
David appeared in a clip on the Red Nose Day TV marathon to
explain how the money raised by the event has helped to reduce deaths from
malaria in Africa
David narrated Growing Up Wild,
a wildlife documentary filmed for the BBC’s Natural World series that explored
how young animals prepare for the trials and tribulations of the adult world.
The 2014 comedy W1A, which David narrated, took the
Broadcasting Press Guild Comedy Award. It also emerged that David had been asked to re-record some of the commentary for
an episode of the new series following presenter Jeremy Clarkson’s shock exit
from the BBC
Events
David attended two days of Wizard World Comic Con in
Raleigh. As well as posing for fan photos and signing autographs, he also
guested on panels on the Saturday and Sunday. During the event David confirmed what
Doctor Who fans had been waiting to hear for years – that Rose was the Doctor’s girlfriend!
It was announced that David would be appearing with Billie
Piper at Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia in May – their first appearance
together in the USA.
Film
Fan-favourite actor Lee Pace was the latest name to be added to the
voice cast of David’s latest animation project, Reds And Grays.
Theatre
The Royal Shakespeare Company announced that David would be
returning to the role of Richard II in early 2016 as part of the staging of the
tetralogy King & Country: The Great Cycle Of Kings. Richard II would be
performed with Henry IV Part 1 & 2 and Henry V in cycle at the Barbican
Theatre in London.
Radio
David returned to BBC Radio 4 for a second episode of Just A Minute.
