It's time the world knew her name...
Marvel's Jessica Jones will premiere internationally on Netflix on Friday 20th November 2015. All 13 episodes of the second of Marvel's Defenders miniseries will be available to stream from 12.01am PT / 8.01am BST.
The news has been announced via the first teaser trailer for the series, a purple-hued 55 seconds of fractured imagery: a spilling whiskey glass, a body thrown through a glass door, the Alias Investigations office. The trailer is soundtracked by the haunting track Thousand Eyes by Icelandic band Of Monsters And Men, over which David Tennant's voice (as Kilgrave) can be heard calling out to Jessica.
Marvel's Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the eponymous Jessica, a former costumed superhero now retired and working as a private detective in New York following a traumatic experience at the hands of supervillain Kilgrave, played by David Tennant. The series also stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage (due to be the subject of his own Netflix series in 2016), Rachael Taylor as Patricia "Trish" Walker and Carrie-Anne Moss as an unnamed possible ally to Jessica. Marvel's Jessica Jones is based on the MarvelMAX comics series Alias by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, and is adapted and executive produced by Melissa Rosenberg.
The series exists in the same world as Marvel's Daredevil which launched on Netflix in April, but the showrunners and star Krysten Ritter have promised a very different and dark series that will push all the boundaries. The interactions between Jessica and Kilgrave are said to be the very core of the drama.
