David Tennant Wins Best Actor At The TV Choice Awards

This year's TV Choice Awards winners have been announced at a star studded ceremony in London this evening and David Tennant has received the award for Best Actor for his role as DI Alec Hardy in the second series of the drama Broadchurch.

Snapping a photo of himself with host Lenny Henry as he collected his award, David joked, "My wife said she'd only let me come if I spent the night getting selfies!"

"This is the best night," he added. "This is really lovely. It’s so nice it’s voted by readers of TV Choice. I’m very humbled. I’m so proud to be a part of British television."

Also nominated in the category were Aidan Turner (Poldark), James Nesbitt (The Missing) and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who).

David will once again reprise his role as Alec when Broadchurch returns to ITV for its third series.
