Broadchurch Snaps Up Best Mystery Prize In Inaugural Yahooies

Yahoo TV readers voted Broadchurch as Best Mystery in the inaugural Yahooies, their online poll celebrating the best US TV during 2014-15.

The UK series Broadchurch, which premiered on BBC America in March, dominated the category with 44% of the vote, with Mr. Robot and Pretty Little Liars in second and third place respectively both only earning 14% each.

Season 2 of Broadchurch revolved around two entwining plots. The residents of the small Dorset town of Broadchurch headed to court to learn the fate of Danny Latimer's killer only for an unexpected twist to re-open old wounds. Meanwhile, David Tennant and Olivia Colman were back as Detectives Hardy and Miller, this time revisiting the Sandbrook case that had eluded Hardy.

Chris Chibnall, in the middle of writing the third season of the show received notice of the win via email and responded:
"Wow. On behalf of the whole Broadchurch team, thank you so much Yahoo readers. It’s always an extra special honour to get an accolade voted for by the public, and to do so against such high-class competition (The Jinx! I’m in the middle of watching it! No spoilers!) we’re even more honoured. We took plenty of risks in our second season, so it’s a thrill to hear that people enjoyed it.
I could gush a lot more, but I have a script for series 3 open on my computer and I have to get back to it. Thank you once again for brightening a grey, rainy day in beautiful Dorset."

Broadchurch goes back into production next year with David and Olivia reprising their roles for a third time.
