David Tennant and Krysten Ritter are taking part in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Press Conference for their new Netflix series Marvel's Jessica Jones. Krysten Ritter posted a photo (above) showing the pair of them on the way to the event for which she was was styled by Reem Acra of New York.
The thirteen part series stars Marvel's Jessica Jones is adapted from the MarvelMAX comic book series Alias by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos. Krysten Ritter stars as the eponymous Jessica, formerly the superhero Jewel, who has retired her secret identity following a personal tragedy. She now runs a private detective agency in New York's Hell's Kitchen, but her world is about to be rocked when a figure from her past reappears.
David Tennant plays Kilgrave, known as the Purple Man, a former spy who turns supervillain after an espionage accident leaves him with the power of mind control. In the original comics he is Jessica's nemesis. He is also purple, another result of his accident, though shots from the set have shown David with his usual skin tone, perhaps in line with Marvel's decision to keep this corner of the comic book universe more grounded and realistic for now.
Marvel's Jessica Jones is the second of four planned comic book adaptations leading into a Defenders miniseries. The first, Daredevil, premiered in April and Luke Cage and Iron Fist are expected to follow next year. Jessica Jones is adapted and executive produced for Marvel TV and ABC Studios by Melissa Rosenberg and also stars Mike Colter, Carrie-Anne Moss and Rachael Taylor.
Marvel's Jessica Jones is scheduled for an autumn 2015 release exclusively on Netflix.
