Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a classic franchise based on the comic book series by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Following an altercation with an alien race called the Kraang, ninjutsu master Hamato Yoshi and his four pet turtles are exposed to the chemical mutagen and undergo transformations. Yoshi becomes the humanoid rat Splinter while the turtles become humanoid: leader of the gang Leonardo, wisecracking Michaelangelo, bad boy Raphael and scientist Donatello. Dwelling in New York's sewers, the turtles are trained in ninjutsu by Splinter so that they can fight the Kraang. The franchise has inspired animated and live action TV series, movies, video games and a range of toys and merchanise. The Nickelodeon series launched in 2012 and the fourth season was announced last year. Current cast includes Sean Astin, Seth Green, Mae Whitman, Hoon Lee, Greg Cipes and Rob Paulsen.

Other guest cast announced at the SDCC panel this afternoon include Lance Henriksen as Zog the Triceraton, Ron Perlman as Armaggon, Michael Dorn as Triceraton Captain Mozar, Peter Stormare as Lord Dregg, and Zelda Williams as Mona Lisa.

Animator Chelsea who worked on the series described working with David Tennant's voice acting as "a holy grail of animation".

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with season 3 premieres on Nickelodeon in the USA from 2nd August at 11am ET/PT. The season 4 start date is to be confirmed for later this year.
