Melissa Rosenberg, showrunner of Marvel’s Jessica Jones has
confirmed that fans of Daredevil can look forward to at least one crossover
between the two shows. Interviewed during the Netflix presentation at the TCA Summer Press Tour in Pasadena on Tuesday she
revealed,
“I think I'm allowed to say: Rosario Dawson will
be dropping in.”
Rosario Dawson played Claire Temple in season 1 of Daredevil,
the nurse who became romantically entangled with blind lawyer-turned-vigilante
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). It has been confirmed that she will also be back
for season 2.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones, adapted from the MarvelMAX comicbook
series Alias, follows the titular Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, a retired
superhero, now working as a private detective in New York. David Tennant
co-stars as supervillain Kilgrave, known as the Purple Man, who is Jessica's nemesis. Rosenberg
revealed that much of the plot will be driven by the dark interactions between
the pair. However, she would not confirm whether any other familiar faces from
Daredevil, the first series in Marvel’s planned Defenders franchise for Netflix, would appear. Certainly in the original story, Murdock is Jessica's lawyer, and is also a major target for Kilgrave's frustration and rage.
“Smaller characters that
populated that world will be popping in,” was all Rosenberg would add.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones will be released exclusively to
Netflix later in 2015.
