The first episode of the two-part wartime drama Spies Of Warsaw will be shown on
True Entertainment in the UK tonight from 9pm BST.
David Tennant stars as the new military attaché to the
French embassy in Warsaw who finds love at a time of growing suspicion and
political uncertainty. The drama, originally shown on BBC Four in early 2013,
was adapted from the novels of Alan Furst by award-winning writing team Dick
Clement and Ian La Frenais and is set in the years leading up to the Second
World War in Poland, Paris, London and Berlin.
Spies Of Warsaw
It is 1937 and at the French embassy in Warsaw, new military
attaché Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier (David Tennant) is drawn into a world of
abduction, betrayal and intrigue in the diplomatic salons and back alleys of
the city. At the same time, the handsome aristocrat finds himself in a
passionate love affair with Anna (Janet Montgomery), a Parisian lawyer for the
League of Nations. Their complicated liaison intensifies as German tanks drive
through the Black Forest. The drama also stars Marcin Dorocinski, Burn Gorman,
Fenella Woolgar and Anton Lesser.
Part 2 can be seen tomorrow night at the same time.
