New To ComiXology - Alias: The Comic Book Series Behind Marvel's Jessica Jones

Alias, the comic book series that inspired the new Netflix series Marvel's Jessica Jones, is now available digitally via ComiXology.

The series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos was originally published between 2001 and 2003 under the Marvel MAX imprint. A total of 28 issues were released following the former superhero Jewel who steps away from her crimefighting role following a tragic incident and re-invents herself as a private detective. During the course of the narrative, after a dark figure from her past has made a reappearance, the traumatic secrets of her past are exposed.

Issues 1 to 10 are now available on digital comic books platform ComiXology, covering the first story arc 'Alias' plus a one-off story guest starring J. Jonah Jameson of The Daily Bugle. Each issue costs $1.99 / £1.49.

Alias (2001-2003)
Meet Jessica Jones, a former costumed super hero who, in fact, stunk at it. With powers unremarkable in comparison to the great icons of Marvel, Jessica never found her niche. But once she hung up her cape, she was surprised at how quickly she fell out of the spandex loop. Sure, she may hang out with some of the Avengers socially, but she`s not welcome in Avengers Mansion. And she feels the rejection. She's self-destructive, drinks too much, and has a huge inferiority complex. And did we mention that she's now a Private Investigator who specializes in cases of the super human variety? So if you're thirsty for the film noir feel and complex characterization, grab a stool at the bar!

The Netflix series Marvel's Jessica Jones is currently in production in New York and will be released on Netflix in late 2015. Breaking Bad star Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica with David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave, also known as The Purple Man, a former spy who develops the power of mind control following an espionage accident. Mike Colter, Rachael Taylor and Carrie-Anne Moss also star. Marvel's Jessica Jones is the second of four new series being produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios exclusively for Netflix. Daredevil was released earlier this year, while Luke Cage (starring Colter) and Iron Fist will follow next year. A Defenders mini-series is also planned.

The Alias series will also be reissued in print later this year
