The first episode of Doctor Who materialises on Disney XD in the USA today
ahead of a full season rollout in June.
The season 2 opener, New Earth, starring David Tennant and Billie Piper,
premieres at 9.00pm ET/PT on Disney XD and at 9.00pm ET on Disney XD en
Español. The episode is repeated tomorrow at 9.30pm ET.
Tonight’s season preview sees the newly regenerated Time Lord, the Doctor, played by David Tennant paired with companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) as they board
the TARDIS for new adventures in space and time. But when they visit mankind
far into the future they find gruesome secrets hidden in the depths of a
hospital and come face to face with a former adversary, the paper thin
Cassandra, voiced by Zoe Wanamaker.
The full season rollout will begin on Saturday 13th June
with a special week long programming event, "Adventures in Time and
Space", which will give fans eight episodes airing daily until Saturday
20th June. From 14th June the episodes will also be available on demand on the
Watch Disney XD app. Fans can expect to meet werewolves, Queen Victoria,
Clockwork Droids, and classic foes the Daleks and the Cybermen. Look out for
guest appearances from Noel Clarke, Pauline Collins, Sophia Myles and Elisabeth
Sladen, among many others.
Disney XD have acquired the rights to air Doctor Who seasons
2 - 4 in the USA starting from next month, bringing the iconic UK Sci-Fi show and its star David
Tennant to a whole new American audience. The episodes featuring David as the
tenth incarnation of the Doctor, were originally broadcast on BBC One in the UK
between 2006 - 2008. They premiered in the USA on BBC America.
