W1A Narrated By David Tennant Takes Broadcasting Press Guild Comedy Award

John Morton's spoof fly-on-the-wall documentary W1A took the Comedy / Entertainment award at the 2015 Broadcasting Press Guild Awards earlier today. The sitcom starring Hugh Bonneville and Jessica Hynes and narrated by David Tennant takes a tongue in cheek look at the inner workings of the BBC. It is a follow up to the award-winning comedy Twenty Twelve which was also written and directed by John Morton. W1A saw Hugh Bonneville and Jessica Hynes reprise their roles as Ian Fletcher and Siobhan Sharpe as they put the London Olympics behind them and take up their new roles at Broadcasting House. Other cast included Jason Watkins, Nina Sosanya and Sarah Parish.

The Broadcasting Press Guild Awards sponsored by the Discovery Channel were presented this afternoon at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The awards are voted for by the members of the guild who comprise of journalists who specialise in writing and broadcasting about radio, television and the media. Other winners this afternoon included Sheridan Smith (Cilla) for Best Actress, Toby Jones (Marvellous) for Best Actor and BBC two's The Honourable Woman for Best Drama Series.
